Whether you're preparing for a maths challenge, or aiming for top grades at GCSE or A-Level or have a student taking 11+ exams or are teaching online, you’ve come to the right place. A lot of my content is right here on UA-cam, but a lot more is available at the online courses website too at courses.mathsaurus.com/ - there you'll find loads of free online courses as well as details of my paid teaching. There's also a website at mathsaurus.com with lots of past papers and grade boundaries.
About me: I studied maths at Oxford University and later created this channel whilst teaching maths at two of the top private schools in London. Since leaving full time teaching I have completed a PhD in Probability and now make content for this channel and the online courses full time!

Logic is not based upon deciding which of your assumption you decree as the correct to solve the problem. Hence, incorrect.
Oh yh i forgot to tell u that I got into mcs.... you've been there
Amazing video :)
Thanks! 😀
That's a really great idea for the channel! Great job improving the quality of your videos! Such a progress! I wish I was loving math as you haha
Thank you Ana!
THANK YOU MATHSAURUS

Both good reasons!

Year 7 to year 8 I liked math because it made me feel smart but as I have done more higher level questions and I often struggle and don’t get an answer or learning from places like numberphile I have come to love math for it’s provelm solving and beauty in proofs lol
Yr7 and yr8 maths was so awfully easy that it made me dislike math during that time
I started watching numberphile in year 7, and understanding the new concept from out of school really made me feel smart lol
Hi Kevin, how do you get paid? Do the students do a bank transfer for each lesson/month/term or is there some other way?
Yes it varies, mostly these day I use booking software that handles this, takes payment and sends Zoom links etc (Acuity scheduling) but invoicing in the traditional way with bank transfers etc. also works well.
@@Mathsaurus And how much do you think I would need to set up the minimum requirements for such a desk set-up. I used to do in-person tutoring but public transport wasted a lot of time. Do you think £500 could buy the essentials for online tutoring?
@@I.Musaa2008 Yes (assuming you already have some sort of pc or laptop) that's more than enough. Start basic, upgrade once you have some students. BitPaper + a basic £50 writing tablet is really all you need to start - I'd go for a decent webcam/mic as the next upgrade - probably the mic more than the camera, bad sound is very annoying!
@@Mathsaurus Thanks for the advice, Kevin, really appreciate it!
Big fan, and I must say your channel is very unique and I love it, you have really helped in learning how to learn. also every day I train for UKMT intermediate math challenge but I see no improvement. Also THANK YOU SO MCUH FOR THE FREE COURSES! You could do livestreams for the big group idea I do have a slight thing to ask:I have used courses, learnt tricks and do questions without looking at answers till I get or look at solution and use method to solve similar equations to improve but see none, do you have any advice. I can only ever get gold and none of the other competitions
Thanks! I'd say firstly that gold is a great result and so probably you have been improving - Gold in Intermediate is an improvement from Gold in Junior for example, so you have made progress! If you weren't at that level and really not getting things I'd suggest going back to lower levels as problems in maths are as often about not having fully understood what's gone before. Otherwise to get to really top scores is very tough - but you need to analyse what's going wrong - is it not paying attention and losing marks early on? Is it not having time to think about the later questions? Is it just not being able to do the harder ones. As you can imagine, each of these would have different solutions! The main thing is to enjoy the maths and to keep trying interesting problems though - there are very few real world problems that you need to solve in an hour after all!
Thank you!, you really are one of the best math UA-camrs , I see you on level with Matt parker and James grime
Im in year 8 and after studying for half a year i managed to enter the jmo with a score of exactly 123. I did the jmo recently and im waiting for my results
I am in year 8 and qualified for the olympiad with 130. Me and my mate revised 16 hours and after the papers and solutions have been released, I got 4/6 and am looking at any medal rn. Really pleased with UKMT

ANY ADVICE, doing it tomoz

Thank you now im more confused 😀
Thank you so much🎉, my JMO is really soon and this is going to help SO MUCH
Good luck!
I think its E. We can write the information like this Lets say the three digit number is abc we can write it as 100a+10b+c-297= 100c+10b+a as its reverse.-c and 10b from both sides.100a-297=99c+a. minus a from both sides to get 99a-297=99c.99*3 is 297 so a and c have to have a difference of 3.So some possibilities are 4,1 5,2 6,3 7,4 8,5 9,6 which is 6 possibilities and b could any number from 0-9 which is 10 possibilities so the amount of three digit numbers which are reversed when subtracted by 297 is 6*10 = 60 which is E,this proof may not be right so im not too sure.

2024 olympiad boundary was insane, 123 which means that only maximum 2 mistakes allowance
How is this the only video i can find on this topic
Obviously 4
What is the purpose of marking this with A-E and 1-5 when there are 6 figures?
4
try mapping lines outwards to form a square works for all apart from second and third so there are 4
Option b? Maybe
